Hardware

18 June 2002

The college  operates with a varied selection of machines,  tools
can range from the Pentium 100processors, with a basic setup of 16MB of RAM, with small capacity graphics cards, and slow CD-ROM drives, running on Windows NT, to machines like the new Pentium 4 processors, running on Windows 2000, which are only available in the drop in center at the moment.

There are so many various machines here due to the different requirements of different courses.  Some machines are used for word processing,
whereas other classrooms come with a range of more specialized tools, so that
people working on many different applications, can make advanced programs or professional web graphics etc.

There is a very advanced internet feature in the college, with a fibre-optic T1 (or E1)
connection to the Internet, which is connected to the server in Swansea. This allows
faster access to web pages, and the college allocates an ISDN dual connection for its users.
